- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 large onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper
- 2 cans tomato paste
- 2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar or to taste
- Sour salt to taste or 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
Mix the meat with onion, garlic and egg. Season with salt and pepper.
Form into balls.
Heat the tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar and sour salt or lemon juice in a saucepan until bubbly. Drop the meatballs into the sauce. Simmer slowly on top of stove for about 30 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
