Cherriettes

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 2
  • 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries (drained) from a 10 ounce jar
  • Green candy melts

Cream butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and almond extracts, salt, and flour. Then stir in the nuts and cherries. Chill the dough for a few hours.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Form the dough into balls and bake for 15-18 minutes.

When they are cool, melt the candy melts in the microwave. Dip the bottom of each cookie in the green liquid to coat. Place green side up on a rack until cool.
