Stemmed Cherry Cookies

  • 1/2 pound cream cheese
  • 1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sifted flour (NaNa called for sifted flour but flour no longer needs sifting. Stir it before measuring.
  • Powdered sugar
  • 4 9 ounce jars of stemmed maraschino cherries

Blend cream cheese and butter well. Then add flour and mix well. Form into large ball and refrigerate overnight.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Sprinkle powdered sugar on your work surface. Roll the dough out thin over powdered sugar. Cut the dough into in 3 inch strips. Roll one piece of dough around a cherry so the stem sticks up.

Bake for 15-20 minutes.
